As the way of life we used to know seems to be melting away, are we ready for the world that is apparently upon us? While the world's economy has collectively crashed, the World Economic Forum is currently orchestrating what they have termed The Great Reset. One of the hallmarks of this new economy is the fourth industrial revolution, which is a life that essentially revolves around devices, artificial intelligence, and multiple sources of electrosmog. Unfortunately, this is a lifestyle that we are not biologically equipped to thrive in, especially if we continue with our current habits. Many studies have shown that overexposing any biological organism to unnatural electromagnetic frequencies (beyond the natural resonance of 7.83 hertz from the Earth) has a well-documented harmful effect. A study published last month in the Journal of Occupational Health, found a higher risk of burnout and depression among workers in a power plant, as opposed to administrative workers in a hospital. Similar findings have been shown repeatedly in studies of electrical workers, clearly showing a higher incidence of depression and anxiety, among other neurodegenerative problems. In recent years, I have had an ever-increasing number of patients that suffer from both depression and anxiety, many already resorting to psychotropic drugs, prescribed by doctors that are not aware of any other option to deal with this growing problem. I have seen many patients improve with these conditions, some even to the extent that they were able cease their dependence on the medication. Many case studies (see links below) have also shown the effectiveness of specific and gentle chiropractic for these life-disrupting conditions. Anxiety, depression, and chronic medication do not have to be a part of our new normal.
Many doctors and health officials have openly admitted that the PCR test used to determine an infection with the virus SARS-CoV-2 is quite inaccurate, especially because a "gold standard" was never established before the mass testing began. According to an article published in May from the British Medical Journal: "No test gives a 100% accurate result; tests need to be evaluated to determine their sensitivity and specificity, ideally by comparison with a "gold standard." The lack of such a clear-cut "gold standard" for covid-19 makes evaluation of test accuracy challenging."
Despite the uncertainty of the true meaning of a positive test, studies are showing that more people than previously thought are immune to this new coronavirus. When the pandemic was declared early this year, we were told that this is a new virus, thus naming it the "Novel Coronvirus," so people are not immune. Fortunately, the data and more recent studies have shown that is not true. A recent study has shown that up to 60% are immune to the novel coronavirus, from previous exposures to other coronaviri, concluding that "we
detected SARS-CoV-2-reactive CD4+ T cells in ~ 40%–60% of unexposed individuals, suggesting crossreactive T cell recognition between circulating ‘‘common cold’’ coronaviruses and SARS-CoV-2." A very similar finding was found by another study published this month, with the researchers saying, "We knew there was pre-existing reactivity, and this study provides very strong direct molecular evidence that memory T cell can 'see' sequences that are very similar between common cold coronviruses and SARS-CoV-2."
This explains the findings of vaccine researchers who are trying to find people who have not been previously exposed to the virus. According to a news report in July: "To their surprise, the researchers identified a much higher-than-anticipated percentage of people who have been infected by the virus but who were asymptomatic. [Dr Mahdi] said between 50% and 66% of adults who are infected with covid-19 are completely asymptomatic. In children, this is even higher - around 80% of all children who are infected are asymptomatic." While this is bad news for the researchers trying to find eligible participants in their vaccine trial, this shows that most people are likely already immune to this virus, even the vast majority that test positive.
Unfortunately, as more and more people are tested, more people will test positive and then labelled as a "case," causing the levels of fear to rise even more. In my opinion, this fear is not justified, and will only suppress the body's innate ability to stay healthy. Avoiding the mainstream media will alone help to lessen the fear and allow you to focus on living.

With the advent of the lockdown, people are now using their wireless devices more than ever. As people are trying to avoid being infected by what is turning out to be no more harmful than other seasonal viruses, more and more people are now using their devices for nearly everything, from shopping to exercising to learning. Unfortunately, the overexposure to the frequencies used by these devices can definitely have a harmful effect, especially in the long term. One very concerning effect is on DNA, essentially the very foundation of life, and found in nearly every cell of the body. A recent laboratory study found DNA damage in the brain of rats exposed to cell phone radiation frequencies, as opposed to those not exposed. Another study showed DNA damage in human placentas and umbilical cords from mothers who used cell phones in combination with WiFi. Another study published in 2014, showed clear evidence of DNA damage in human sperm. The image above shows human sperm that are exposed to direct cell phone radiation, resulting in DNA fragmentation (labeled 1), as compared to unexposed sperm (labeled 2). As the chart below shows, this effect begins within just 1 hour of exposure.

This may partly explain why sperm counts have been dropping worldwide for over 50 years now, as electromagnetic radiation has increased. According to Professor Denis L. Henshaw from the UK:
"The idea that since cell phone radio waves do not have the quantam energy to damage DNA and therefore cannot cause ill health is a fallacy. It is flawed at a number of levels, from the very physics upon which it is supposedly based, to chemistry and biology. Most of all, the idea is not born out by the tens of thousands of peer-reviewed studies reporting biological effects from exposure to electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields and electromagnetic radiation, including those associated with radio wave frequencies used by cell phones."
The radiation emitted by these devices must be treated with respect. Limiting your exposure is not only in your best interest, but for future generations, as well.
With the help of the Killer T Cells (seen on the right), worldwide data has
shown that the survival rate from COVID-19 is between 99.59% and 99.9%.
When most medical doctors and health organizations say that there is "no cure," what they actually mean is that there is "no pharmaceutical cure." This is especially the case for seasonal viruses that come and go every year. This is also the case for COVID-19, where the vast majority of people are recovering naturally, with no medical intervention. In fact, most people never even develop any symptoms and don't even realize that they even had the virus. According to the British Medical Journal, 80% of those that are positive are asymptomatic. Even for 70-79 year olds, 60% remain symptom-free, with 95% of all ages developing no more than mild symptoms.
Studies from the U.S., Japan, Denmark, Iran, and Germany have demonstrated that much more people than previously thought are already immune to the COVID-19 virus, showing that up to 15% of the population already have produced antibodies, likely already protecting them from this virus.
Accumulated data from around the world has shown that COVID-19 has an infection-fatality ratio (IFR) similar to the seasonal flu. According to the University of Oxford's Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine: "Taking account of historical experience, trends in the data, increased number of infections in the population at largest, and potential impact of misclassification of deaths gives a presumed estimate of IFR somewhere between 0.1% and 0.41%." This means that the survival rate from this infection is between 99.59% and 99.9%.
This is all made possible by your amazing and highly efficient immune system, which gets no credit from the main stream media A short video from the University of Cambridge (see link below) demonstrates how cells from the immune system, in this case specifically the Cytotoxic T Cells (also known as Killer T Cells), target and destroy harmful viruses and cancer cells. According to Professor Gillian Griffiths:
"Inside all of us lurks an army of serial killers whose primary function is to kill and kill again. These cells patrol our bodies, identifying and destorying virally infected and cancer cells and the do so with remarkable precision and efficiency. There are billions of T cells within our blood - one teaspoon full of blood alone is believed to have around 5 million T cells, each measuring around 10 micrometers in length, about a tenth of the width of a human hair. Each cell is engaged in the ferocious and unrelenting battle to keep us healthy."
It's important to note that the immune system is controlled and coordinated by the nervous system. Studies have shown that there are neurotransmitter receptor sites on white blood cells, which includes the Killer T cells. I also believe that these white blood cells are also controlled by extremely low frequency electromagnetic signals from the nervous system. In his book "The Body Electric," Dr. Robert O. Becker explains how they discoverd that red blood cells respond to similar signals, so it's very likely that white blood cells also do the same.
Improving the function of the nervous system will undoubtedly also improve the efficiency of the immune system, allowing your army of T cells to inconpicuously keep you safe and going strong.
In early April, the World Health Organization (WHO) informed doctors and hospitals that a COVID-19 diagnosis code can be used on cases even when the virus was not identified. Shortly thereafter, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), in the US, also instructed doctors to identify "suspected" cases as COVID-19 deaths, even for patients where the virus was not detected. This was verified in interviews with Minnesota Senator, Dr Scott Jensen, who is also a medical doctor.
Early studies have shown that the mortality rate for COVID-19 is no worse than the flu. However, the mortality rate will likely rise now that this virus can be blamed on deaths even on patients who have not tested positive.
"New York City, already the world epicenter of the coronvirus outbreak, sharply increased its death toll by more than 3,700 victims on Tuesday, after officials said they were now including people who had never tested positive for the virus but were presumed to have died of it."
It's also important to note that many of the fatalities are being blamed on the coronavirus, despite most patients having 2 or more pre-existing chronic diseases, and already-low life expectancies. According to Professor Sucharit Bhakdi, a German microbiologist and researcher, stated:
"... the mistake is being made worldwide to report virus-related deaths as soon as it is established that the virus was present at the time of death - regardless of other factors. This violates a basic principle of infectionology: only when it is certain that an agent has played a significant role in the disease or death may a diagnosis be made." Dr Deborah Birx, the White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator, also said that regardless of pre-existing chronic diseases, "when someone dies with COVID-19, we are counting that as COVID-19 deaths."
As the WHO and CDC allows this diagnosis be made freely, even without positive blood tests, this mistake, as Dr Bhakdi calls it, will become even more commonplace. Apart from being unethical and unscientific, this has significant short-term and long-term ramifications. While the skewed mortality rate and sensationalist journalism only increases the already-high levels of fear, these statistics will be used to make future health and social policies, affecting civil liberties and human rights, which, until now, we've all taken for granted.
We are currently amid a nearly world-wide human lockdown, as never seen before in the history of the world; all in the aim of avoiding a virus, which has been called "deadly," but statistics are now showing to be less deadly than the flu virus. As the virus spreads, confirmed cases are rising daily, with actual cases believed to be ten times more. As the general public are watching the number of "confirmed cases" rising, people become even more fearful. Is this fear truly warranted? Should we be more concerned with this virus, than other seasonal viruses? Was it truly necessary to shut down the economy to prevent a small percentage of deaths? The decisions made by leaders around the world have not been easy. In my opinion, the lockdowns have been an overly drastic response to a virus, which would probably have gone unnoticed in most years. Why this has happened is hard to say. For now, we can only hope that the economic and social fallout of these draconian measures of locking down the country will not be worse than the deaths we have been trying to prevent.
A study published recently in the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents, titled "SARS-CoV-2: fear versus data," concluded the following:
"SARS-CoV-2 [also known as COVID-19] does not seem to be deadlier than other circulating viruses. In addition to coronaviruses, there are 16 endemic viruses in common circulation in developed countries and 2.6 million deaths from respiratory infections (excluding tuberculosis) per year have been noted in recent years worldwide. There is little chance that the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 could change this statistic significantly. Fear could have a larger impact that the virus itself;..."
From an environmental perspective, Mother Nature will only benefit from less human activity. From a spiritual perspective, 3 weeks of self-reflection and isolation can also be beneficial. However, for the majority of the population of the world, who live hand to mouth, more than 3 weeks of no income can be devestating. The world will never be the same with the decisions which were made by the governments and health organizations around the world. Hopefully, in the long run, it will be for the best.

"I am deeply concerned that the social, economic, and public health consequences of this near-total meltdown of normal life - schools and businesses closed, gatherings banned - will be long-lasting and calamitous, possibly graver that the direct toll of the virus itself. The stock market will bounce back in time, but many businesses never will. The unemployment, impoverishment, and despair likely to result will be public health scourges of the first order."
Dr. Katz is one of many scientists, researchers, and doctors who have publicly questioned the strategy to deal with this virus (see links below). In the meantime, I encourage you to follow the lockdown guidelines and hygiene protocol, while maintaining the same habits we always prescribe, including eating 9-10 raw fruit and veggies per day, connecting with the Earth, sleeping well, staying active, and making sure that your nervous system is flowing optimally. Doing so will also make you less fearful, and less likely to panic unnecessarily.
Eat a poor diet: Make sure your body lacks the vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and micronutrients needed for optimal health.
Avoid adequate rest: Stay up late and rely on sugar, tobacco, coffee, and energy drinks as neeed.
Become dehydrated: Reduce the effectiveness of your natural defense mechanisms by shunning adequate water.
Stop exercising: Reduce the efficiency of your lymphatic system, which depends on movement to circulate this vital germ-fighting fluid.
Rarely wash your hands: Use dirty hands and fingers to rub your eyes, pick your nose, or wipe your lips.
Think negative thoughts: Worry that you'll be a victim. Closely monitor news
reports about outbreaks, fearing a pandemic.
Skip your chiropractic adjustments: Handicap your nervous system, the master system that controls your entire body. Wait until symptoms are present before doing anything.
The only way to catch anything is to make yourself a hospitable host.
While everyone can beneft from chiropractic care, it is more essential for some. One very good example is anyone who has suffered from a concussion. A concussion, also known as a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), is "caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth. This sudden movement can cause the brain to bounce around or twist in the skull, creating chemical changes in the brain and sometimes stretching and damaging brain cells." A concussion will also likely cause a severe Vertebral Subluxation Complex, especially in the upper neck, making chiropractic care especially important for improved recovery. Over the years, we've helped many patients to speed up the healing process after a concussion. Case studies published last year, also show the effectiveness of specific chiropractic care with concussions. In both cases, these patients were previously under traditional chiropracic care, but only recovered fully after receiving more specific, upper neck spinal adjustments. For anyone that has suffered from a concussion, specific chiropractic care can help restore proper brain and nervous system healing, allowing you to lead an active and productive life once again.
Many people are becoming aware of the harmful effects of long term exposure to wireless devices, like cell phones, towers, and wi-fi. However, few people realize that long-term exposure to electrical currents can also be harmful. Forty years ago, epidemiologists Drs. Nancy Wertheimer and Ed Leeper published a landmark study which found a higher rate of leukemia (a type of blood cancer) in children living near power lines. More than 20 years later, in 2001, this extremely low frequency (ELF) electromagnetic radiation created by the flow of electricity was finally classified as a possible cancer-causing agent by the World Health Organization. Many studies have shown an association with DNA damage, various types of cancers, depression, and also neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's and Motor Neuron Disease. A study published this year found an increased rate of female infertility for women living up to 1 km away from power lines. While the strength of the electromagnetic field emitted by electric blankets is weak, spending the entire night in direct contact can have a cumulative harmful effect, which I have also seen among my patients who have used electric blankets. The nervous system is also more vulnerable to all electromagnetic radiation during sleep periods. So if you are using an electric blanket, be sure to switch it off before you get in bed, to allow your nervous system to get the proper regenerative rest required to function properly.
As chiropractic care improves the function of the nervous system, the effects can be numerous. One effect which has been confirmed by several
studies is on muscle strength.
While previous studies have shown that chiropractic care improves muscle function in the spinal column, more recent studies also show that spinal adjustments can improve muscle strength beyond the spine. In 2012, a study from Brazil on professional Judo athletes, found improved grip strength after chiropractic spinal adjustments, compared to those that received sham (or fake) adjustments. Another study from New Zealand in 2018, also showed improvement in jaw muscle or bite strength, as compared to those that received sham adjustments. Both these studies also showed that the effect was not just psychosomatic, or in the mind, as the group that received the sham adjustments did not experience an increase in muscle strength.
Improved muscle strength is important no matter what you do in life; whether, you are a parent, grandparent, athlete, weekend warrior, or even a desk worker. This effect on muscle strength also helps to explain why chiropractic can not only improve athletic performance, but can also help people maintain better posture, lessening the effects of prolonged sitting and standing.
Over the years, I have heard many patients say that they are feeling stronger after beginning care. This research clearly shows that this effect is not merely in the mind, as chiropractic adjustments can improve the function of the more than 650 muscles in the human body, all controlled, strengthened, and coordinated by the nervous system. Life is always easier when your nervous system is flowing better.
Most people don't realize that our man-made environment has placed our nervous systems under a nearly constant state of stress. It's no wonder that most people cannot cope without the help of caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, or even prescription drugs; all in an attempt to calm the nervous system. Considering that most people think you only need to see a chiropractor when you have back pain, many would be surprised to hear about how the chiropractic profession began. It all started 123 years ago in a small American town. The founder of chiropractic, D.D Palmer, was practicing as a magnetic healer, when he came upon a janitor working in his office building. In his own words, he describes what followed:
"Harvey Lillard, a janitor in the Ryan Block where I had my office, has been so deaf for 17 years that he could not hear the racket of a wagon on the street or the ticking of a watch. I made inquiry as to the cause of his deafness and was informed that when he was exerting himself in a cramped, stooping position, he felt something give way in his back and immediately became deaf. An examination showed a vertebra racked from its normal position. I reasoned that if that vertebra was replaced, the man's hearing should be restored. With this object in view, a half-hour's talk persuaded Mr. Lillard to allow me to replace it. I racked it into position by using the spinous process as a lever and soon the man could hear as before. There was nothing 'accidental' about this, as it was accomplished with an object in view, and the result expected was obtained..."
From this one adjustment, chiropractic has grown to be the largest drug-free health profession, safely performing millions of revitalizing spinal adjustments every day around the world. Without any industry support and funding, this growth has occurred as a result of word of mouth, simply because the positive results of chiropractic care inspires patients to refer their friends and family. Studies have also shown clear benefits of chiropractic care well beyond symptoms such as back and neck pain. The world has changed dramatically since that fateful first adjustment 123 years ago. We are now living in a nearly completely man-made world, which has created man-made diseases never even heard of when chiropractic first began. An optimally functioning spine and nervous system is more essential now than ever before, as it helps you to cope and mitigate the effects of our modern life... allowing you to reconnect with your true self.
Limited shoulder function is often a sign of long-standing upper cervical subluxations. If you are not able to move your arm through these full ranges of motion, your spine and nervous system probably need some fine-tuning.
Are your shoulders free to move? Did you know that the function of the shoulder is dependent on a properly functioning spine and nervous system? Several studies have shown that chiropractic care can play a strong role in alleviating this debilitating and painful condition. In one case series of 50 patients with Frozen Shoulder Syndrome (also known as Adhesive Capsulitis), 98% of patients experienced significant improvement in their symptoms. Another case study of a 53 year old woman with a frozen shoulder for 6 months, experienced complete resolution of her condition while under chiropractic care. Three other recent case studies also showed similar positive results. It's important to note that in all these case studies, the primary dysfunction in the spinal column was in the upper neck, which most people, including doctors, would not associate with shoulder problems. What is also clear from these case studies, and from my experience of helping patients with this painful condition, is that since this is more a nerve problem, rather than a joint problem, healing often takes time. Symptomatic relief can take up to 2-3 months of regular care, however most people begin to experience some relief within 4-6 visits. While frozen shoulder is more rare, many people are experiencing mild shoulder discomfort and reduced range of motion, which can be alleviated with chiropractic care. It's just another reason why specific chiropractic care should be a regular part of a healthy lifestyle.
One of the most alarming recent studies published found that since the 1970's, sperm counts have dropped by over 50% in developed countries. In fact, previous studies show that this trend began in the 1950's, with the greatest decrease in the last 20 years. While a lower sperm count has a significant effect on fertility, this is just a symptom of a deeper, underlying problem, which has broad implications, as testosterone levels and overall heatlh can also be affected. There are many theories as to why this is happening. It's unlikely that there is a single cause, as with most health issues, but a combination of several factors, including endocrine disrupting chemicals found in plastics, alcohol, cigarettes, refined sugar, and saturated fat. Another environmental toxin which is often overlooked is the increasing amounts of electromagnetic pollution. Numerous studies have shown a link between the wireless frequencies and decreased sperm counts, sperm motility, and even fertility. Today, nearly everyone is constantly in close proximity to a microwave-emitting device, such as a cell phone and WiFi is now literally everywhere. A recent study has shown that even the rate of testicular cancer is rising in teenage boys. Some scientists believe that this is likely because nearly every teenage boy carries a cell phone in their front pockets. Another factor which I believe has contributed to the decrease in sperm counts is the altererd nerve supply to the reproductive organs. The proper nerve supply to any part of the body is essential. Pelvic and lumbar subluxations are present in nearly every male today, which directly disturbs the nerve and blood supply to the testes. This results, in part, due to the lack of motion in the pelvis, as life now revolves around sitting and most men hardly walk. Chiropractic plays an important role in restoring proper function of the spine and pelvis, thereby improving nerve and blood flow to the reproductive and endocrine systems.

One of the greatest conveniences of today is being able to use a cell phone while travelling in a car, even without having to touch the device. Most people are not aware, however, that this exposes the body and brain to excessive amounts of microwave frequencies. Long term over-exposure to these frequencies have been proven to be harmful, but are even more so when travelling in a well-insulated, steel chamber like a car.
An excellent case study by the University of Mainz in Germany showed the effects of this radiation, with an Electroencephalogram (EEG). They were able to measure the electrical activity of the driver's brain and the effects are disturbing to say the least. According to the researchers, "the brain is clearly under more stress" as this exposure "results in large scale activation in all areas of the brain, which can affect the ability to concentrate and general fitness to drive." They go on to say that, "In the worst case, the increased long term stress on the brain can lead to symptoms similar to burnout, irritability, exhaustion, and tiredness."
Many people in Gauteng spend at least 2-4 hours per day travelling in cars with cell phones and bluetooth constantly emitting microwave frequencies. To lessen these effects, you should avoid using the cell phone in the car, keep it on "Airplane/Flight Mode," and switch off the vehicle's wireless network. This is especially important while travelling long distances.
Personally, for the last 2 years, when travelling by car, my wife and I usually keep our devices on Flight Mode, and we have noticed that we feel noticeably less fatigued while driving and have more energy upon reaching our destination.
I encourage you to do an experiment for yourself and see if you notice a difference.
In our modern health care system, the body has been divided into its parts and seen more as a
machine, which can only be altered physically and chemically. In reality, the human body is a much more complex system, possessing an integrating innate intelligence, which modern science is slowly starting to understand. In our current disjointed health care industry, we have specialists for every organ system of the body, including some that only treat problems of one particular organ. So if you have a nerve problem, you need a Neurologist. If you have a sinus problem, you must see an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist. If you have a bladder problem, you need a Urologist. If you have a heart problem, you need a Cardiologist. You get the idea.
So as a result, most people believe that you only need a chiropractor if you have a neck or back problem. This misconception keeps many other people from benefiting from chiropractic. As chiropractic care improves the function of the spine and nervous system, the pain does usually improve. However, many of these patients realize that as their back improves, other seemingly-unrelated problems also somehow improve. In recent months, we've had patients comment that to their surprise and delight, they've also experienced relief from constipation, restless leg syndrome, muscle cramps, excessive snoring, heartburn, headaches, knee problems, dizziness, heel pain and many other chronic issues which they did not realize was related to dysfunction coming from the spine.
It's important to note that chiropractic care does not treat the disease or problem directly. By locating and correcting the dysfunction in the spinal column (which we call vertebral subluxations), the nervous system is able to function better and heal more effectively . It's also very important to remember that these types of conditions generally developed over years to decades, so healing will also take time. While medical care can often achieve symptomatic relief quickly, the vitalistic effects of chiropractic usually requires more time, patience, and essential lifestyle modification. Fortunately, the rewards are many.
Most medical doctors don't refer to chiropractors for various reasons, but mainly because they simply do not know much about the benefits of chiropractic care. Fortunately, this is changing as more research is validating chiropractic care, while more medical doctors are realizing the limitations of conventional medicine. About 2 years ago, I attended a seminar sponsored by a company which sells dietary supplements. The lecturer began his presentation by asking the audience of health care professionals, "Who consumes 9-10 fruits and vegetables every day?" Out of the crowd of over 200 people, consisting of medical doctors, chiropractors, homeopaths, and physiotherapists, less than 10 people raised their hands. His justification for this informal survey was to show that very few people, including health care providers, take this simple step to maintain their health and well-being, so it's even more important to prescribe supplements. While certain supplements may be necessary for individual cases, consuming the whole, unrefined source of those supplements, is even more important. Sadly, it's a crucial ingredient that most people overlook and many even avoid. Numerous studies have shown the clear and definite benefits. One study from 2014, found that at least seven servings (the size of a cup), reduces the chance of dying from all causes by 42%, which includes a lower risk of cancer and heart disease. Surprisingly, frozen and canned versions actually proved to be harmful. Another study from this year, found that consuming 10 servings a day leads to even greater benefits.
There are many reasons that these benefits are possible, including the increased fiber intake, along with all the vitamins, minerals, and thousands of phytonutrients. Many people have been misled to avoid fruit because of the high sugar content, but nutritional science has clearly shown that the sugar found in the whole, unrefined, and unprocessed fruit does not have the same harmful effect as refined sugar. Many also mistakenly avoid fruit to prevent weight gain. However, the rising rate of obesity is definitely not because of excessive fruit intake. In fact, many studies have demonstrated that very few people consume even the minimum daily recommendation for fruit and vegetables, yet obesity is becoming more and more prevalent around the world. An Australian study found that 96% of those from 22-44 years of age do not even consume 2 fruits and 5 vegetables per day.
After returning from a visit to the U.S., I was reminded of how fortunate we are here in South Africa. We are blessed with a wide variety of locally-produced and recently-harvested fruits and vegetables, which most countries have to import. It's up to us to take advantage of this wonderful resource and enjoy the abundant health benefits.
More and more schools in South Africa are becoming "tablet schools," adopting the newest wireless technology in an effort to give their students the greatest advantage in an ever-challenging world. While technology in education is important, the long-term safety of wireless technology has never been established. In fact, there are already more than 5,000 studies verifying the negative biological effects of electromagnetic fields, as emitted by cell phones, tablets, laptops, WiFi trasmitters, and cell towers. Despite the lack of studies proving safety, many schools have incorporated wireless technology without considering the future health effects on children, as well as teachers and staff. Fortunately, studies are now being published specifically documenting the harmful effects of WiFi, to allow parents and schools to make an informed decision about wireless technology in their schools. The following is a brief summary of just a few of these important studies:
1. Neurodegenerative Disease: A study published in 2015 exposed rats to WiFi for 24 hours a day for one year, and compared their brains to a group that were not exposed. The researchers concluded that long-term WiFi exposure "may lead to adverse effects such as neurodegenerative disease," which includes Alzheimer's.
2. Brain Physiology, Heart Function, and DNA Damage: Various studies have shown a wide range of disturbing effects and have been published in peer-reviewed, scientific journals, including altering voltage-gated calcium channels, heart rate variablitiy, and damage to sperm DNA. A 2015 study found that exposure to WiFi signals had a negative effect on heart function in rabbits, concluding "that exposure to WiFi affects heart rhythm, blood pressure, and catecholamines efficacy."
3. Neurobehavioural Problems: A study just recently published in the journal Behavioral Brain Research found that WiFi exposure to rats while still in their mother's womb "adversely affected offspring neurodevelopment and behavior in adulthood."
These laboratory studies show the definite short-term effects of chronic exposure to WiFi, but the long-term effects are even more serious, which includes increased risk of cancer. All electromagnetic frequency radiation, including WiFi, was classified as a class 2b carcinogen (possibly causes cancer) in 2011 by the World Health Organization. Today, less than 15 years since the wide-spread implementation of wireless devices, brain tumors are the most common type of cancer among children and teenagers, in the U.S. and U.K.
Dr. Lennart Hardell, an oncologist and researcher from Sweden, recently said, "With respect to health implications of digital (wireless) technologies, it is of importance that neurological diseases, physiological addiction, cognition, sleep, and behavioral problems are considered in addition to cancer." According to Dr. Martin Blank, from Columbia University, "The rollout of WiFi in schools is still very new -- too recent for any large-scale health impacts to have been reported. So the epidemiological science demonstrating health effects in children from exposure to WiFi does not yet exist and may not for decades. However, laboratory studies have clearly indicated potentially harmful changes that argue strongly for precautionary measures."
WiFi uses microwaves in the 2.4, 3.6 and 5 GHz frequency range,
the same as cordless phones and microwave ovens.

Fortunately, there is a solution to this dilemma of providing state of the art education, while keeping children safe; by simply connecting devices to wired internet connections, children would no longer be exposed to electromagnetic radiation from the devices directly in front of them, along with the WiFi transmitters.
Unfortunately, the mainstream media, government, and schools are relying on industry-funded studies to decide the safety of all wireless technology. I encourage you to research this very important issue and decide for yourself.
